[07-10-2026] Kern County, CA – Teen on Motorized Scooter Killed After Being Struck By Van on Lost Hills Rd.

A 17-year-old was killed after the motorized scooter he was riding was struck from behind by a van on Lost Hills Road in Kern County on Friday night, July 10, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 11:23 p.m., south of King Street.

Authorities said a 63-year-old Sacramento man was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Express van northbound on Lost Hills Road when he collided with the rear of the scooter.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. CHP officials reported that alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors in the collision.

Officers from the CHP Buttonwillow Area office are continuing to investigate the incident.
