[07-09-2026] Riverside County, CA – Six Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash at 62nd Ave. and Highway 86 Expressway in Thermal

Six people were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Thermal, Riverside County, on Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. near the intersection of 62nd Avenue and Highway 86 Expressway.

Authorities said a Jeep ran a red light while traveling southbound on State Route 86 and broadsided a Toyota sedan traveling eastbound on 62nd Avenue.

Emergency responders reported six patients at the scene. Four were transported for minor injuries, while two declined further treatment or transport.

Two occupants of the Jeep, an adult and a minor, and two occupants of the Toyota were hospitalized for complaints of pain.

No further details were immediately available, and the investigation remains ongoing.
