[07-03-2026] Madera County, CA – Driver Arrested After Wrong-Way DUI Crash Involving Semi-Truck on Highway 99 (1).webpA driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a wrong-way crash involving a semi-truck on Highway 99 in Madera County on Friday morning, July 3, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred before 6:30 a.m. on northbound Highway 99 near Avenue 7.

Authorities said the driver of a Toyota Camry was traveling in the wrong direction when the vehicle collided head-on with a semi-truck. The impact caused the semi-truck to overturn onto its side, leading to temporary road closures.

A third vehicle was also involved following the initial collision. CHP reported that no major injuries were sustained, but the semi-truck driver was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for complaints of pain.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The CHP continues to investigate the crash.
