[06-18-2026] Kern County, CA – 12-Year-Old Boy Dies After Dog Attack at Central Park Pond in California City.webpA 12-year-old boy died, and his 8-year-old sister was injured following a dog attack at a park pond in California City, Kern County, on Thursday evening, June 18, 2026.

According to police, officers were called around 6:09 p.m. to Central Park regarding a person found motionless in the pond.

Responding officers located the boy unresponsive in the water, while his sister was found nearby with injuries from a dog attack.

Authorities stated the children were attacked by dogs owned by a resident who was also at the park. The boy attempted to escape by jumping into the pond but was later found unresponsive and transported to Adventist Health Hospital in Tehachapi before being transferred to Children’s Hospital, where he died. The girl sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials identified the dog owner as Kenneth D., who is currently being sought by authorities. The investigation is ongoing.
