[06-21-2026] Santa Cruz County, CA – Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Collision With SUV on Highway 9 at Shingle Mill Rd.

A motorcyclist suffered major injuries in a collision with an SUV on Highway 9 in northern Santa Cruz County on Sunday afternoon, June 21, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 1 p.m. at Shingle Mill Road, near the San Mateo County line.

Traffic was temporarily stalled while a helicopter ambulance transported the motorcyclist to a hospital for treatment. The highway reopened around 2 p.m.

CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
