[05-25-2026] San Diego County, CA – At Least One Killed in Fiery Crash on I-8 in El Cajon

At least one person was killed after a vehicle veered off westbound Interstate 8 in El Cajon and caught fire on Monday morning, May 25, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 3:28 a.m. just east of Mollison Avenue. A witness reported hearing an explosion and seeing flames at the scene.

Authorities stated that two people and a dog may have been inside the vehicle, though details have not been confirmed. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
