According to the Visalia Police Department, officers responded to the incident at around 6:22 p.m. in the area of Ben Maddox Way and Walnut Avenue.

Authorities stated that Margarita R. was driving eastbound on Walnut Avenue with her three children, ages 8, 7, and 2, when she lost control of the vehicle, veered off the roadway, and crashed into a tree.

Officials said the 2-year-old and 8-year-old children sustained injuries in the collision and were transported to a hospital for treatment.

The driver was allegedly under the influence of a stimulant at the time of the crash. She was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, causing injury, and child endangerment.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
