A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the Bay Bridge in Alameda County, early Thursday morning, May 21, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported around 5:30 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the bridge just west of the metering lights.
Authorities stated that officers arrived within minutes and found the rider unconscious in the roadway. Emergency responders, including personnel from the Oakland Fire Department, attempted lifesaving measures before the rider was pronounced dead at around 5:45 a.m.
Investigators reported that the motorcyclist, believed to be a man in his 30s, may have collided with another vehicle or lost control while lane splitting. After being ejected from the motorcycle, the rider was struck by a box truck. The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Officials said the truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
