According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision was reported around 1:40 a.m. at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Third Street.

Authorities stated that a black Hyundai and a gray Honda collided in the intersection, trapping one person inside the Hyundai. One of the vehicles crashed into a wall while the other struck a light pole.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded to the scene and extricated the trapped victim from the wreckage. Two individuals were transported to hospitals in critical condition.

Debris from the collision was scattered across the intersection as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
