A crash involving a semi-trailer and a pickup truck caused lane closures in Bakersfield on Monday evening, May 11, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. on westbound Highway 58 just west of Bear Mountain Boulevard (Highway 223).
Authorities stated that material was spilled onto the roadway, though the nature of the spill has not been confirmed.
Westbound lanes of Highway 58 were temporarily closed beginning around 8 p.m. while crews responded to the scene and worked to clear the roadway. At least one westbound lane was later reopened.
Additional details regarding injuries have not been released. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
