[05-09-2026] San Diego County, CA – Dirt Bike Rider Seriously Injured in Crash with SUV in La Jolla.webpA dirt bike rider sustained serious injuries following a collision with an SUV in La Jolla on Saturday evening, May 9, 2026.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred at the intersection of Pearl Street and Eads Avenue.

Authorities reported that a 28-year-old woman driving a 2019 Kia Sorento was traveling westbound on Pearl Street and attempting to turn left onto southbound Eads Avenue when a 30-year-old man riding a 2014 Honda dirt bike collided with the SUV.

Investigators stated that witnesses reported the dirt bike rider was traveling at unsafe speeds and riding on the shoulder before entering the intersection. The rider was ejected from the dirt bike and suffered serious injuries, including an intracranial hemorrhage, a skull fracture, and a ruptured eardrum.

The rider was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Kia remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
