Two women were killed, and another person sustained critical injuries following a two-vehicle DUI crash in Big Bear Lake, San Bernardino County, on Monday morning, May 4, 2026.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred around 10:22 a.m. at the intersection of Big Bear Boulevard and Cienega Road.
Authorities reported that a white Ford Super Duty pickup truck traveling southbound on Cienega Road entered the intersection and collided with the passenger side of a red Subaru Crosstrek traveling westbound on Big Bear Boulevard.
One passenger inside the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where she later died from her injuries. The driver of the Subaru sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment.
Officials stated that the driver of the Ford pickup, identified as 52-year-old Matthew C. of Oxnard, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center before being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The identities of the deceased women have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
