[05-02-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash Near 36th St. and Fifth Ave.

A 37-year-old bicyclist, identified as Melvin S., was killed in a hit-and-run crash near the Jefferson Park area of Los Angeles on Saturday night, May 2, 2026.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision occurred around 10:50 p.m. near the intersection of 36th Street and Fifth Avenue.

Authorities reported that the bicyclist was struck by a dark-colored Jeep Wrangler. The driver fled the scene following the collision.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the crash and is asking anyone with information to contact authorities. The suspect remains outstanding.
