According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported at around 6:32 p.m. and involved a white Toyota Corolla and a silver Kia Sorento.

Emergency crews from CAL FIRE and the San Diego County Fire Protection District responded to the scene after reports that at least one individual was trapped inside the Kia Sorento. Both vehicles had deployed airbags during the crash.

The individuals involved were treated for injuries of unknown severity. Transport unit Medic 11 and Engine 3361 were among the primary responders.

The crash temporarily blocked the intersection, causing significant traffic delays for evening commuters. Multiple tow trucks were dispatched, and the vehicles were cleared from the roadway by 6:50 p.m.

The CHP is actively investigating the cause of the crash.
