[04-15-2026] Kern County, CA – 17-Year-Old Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in Bakersfield.webpA 17-year-old boy is recovering after suffering severe injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Planz Road in Bakersfield on April 15, 2026.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the crash occurred around 10 p.m. when Isaiah J. was riding his electric bike near South Chester and was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Surveillance video showed the incident, but the suspect vehicle remains unidentified.

The victim was hospitalized with severe injuries and celebrated his 17th birthday while recovering. He has since returned home, though his family says the road to recovery will be long.

Investigators are searching for a dark-colored Dodge Charger or Challenger and have canvassed the area for video evidence. They urge the community to come forward with any information to help identify the driver.
