[04-17-2026] Fresno County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle on Highway 99.webpA pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 99 in Fresno County on Friday night, April 17, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported around 10 p.m. on southbound Highway 99, just north of North Avenue.

Officers arrived to find emergency personnel performing life-saving measures on an adult female pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said a Dodge Charger was traveling southbound in the far-left lane when the pedestrian entered the roadway and walked into the vehicle’s path. The vehicle struck the pedestrian, resulting in fatal injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. CHP stated that alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor for the driver. It remains unclear whether the pedestrian was impaired, pending toxicology results.

The identity of the pedestrian has not been released. The crash remains under investigation.
