[04-16-2026] San Diego County, CA – Several Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-15 Near Rainbow Valley Blvd.webpSeveral people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision involving up to a dozen vehicles on Interstate 15 near Rainbow Valley Boulevard in San Diego County on Thursday morning, April 16, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on the southbound side of Interstate 15. 

Initial reports indicated that four to five vehicles were involved, but later updates suggested that as many as 12 vehicles may have been involved in the collision. Several vehicles sustained significant damage, and at least three had airbags deployed.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and found at least one person with a significant head injury after reportedly being ejected during a rollover. Another injured individual was located several hundred yards away from the main crash site. Authorities also reported that a red Tesla involved in the crash required assistance from the fire department.

Lanes were temporarily blocked as crews assessed injuries and cleared the roadway. Traffic was diverted, and a tow service was requested to assist with vehicle removal. By late morning, all vehicles had been moved to the right-hand shoulder, and some lanes were reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
