Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Kern County on Monday evening, April 13, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 5:08 p.m. on Highway 14 near Highway 58.
Reports indicate that a man driving a gray Toyota Corolla attempted to merge from the southbound lanes onto the northbound side of Highway 14, near the Exit 167 off-ramp.
At the same time, a white Buick Encore was traveling southbound on Highway 14 and struck the left side of the Corolla.
The driver of the Corolla and the left rear passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Buick and the front right passenger in the Corolla were taken to a hospital for treatment.
