[04-14-2026] Ventura County, CA – Woman Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle in Simi Valley

An 89-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Cochran Street in Simi Valley on Tuesday afternoon, April 14, 2026.

According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. when the pedestrian was walking south across Cochran Street, just east of Stearns Street, and was struck by a vehicle traveling east on Cochran. 

Police Sergeant Kyle Crocker noted that the woman did not cross the street through a crosswalk. The woman was declared dead at the scene, and her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. 

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to Sergeant Brian Murray. Alcohol or drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
