A bicyclist died after cutting in front of an SUV on Avenue 328 in Tulare County on Sunday evening, April 5, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the scene around 6:45 p.m. east of Manzanitas Road, within the community of Ivanhoe.
Investigators report that the bicyclist was riding west along the right edge of Avenue 328 and that a Nissan SUV was also following them.
For reasons still under investigation, the bicyclist veered left directly into the SUV’s path, causing a collision. The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from their bike and sustained fatal injuries.
The driver of the SUV was uninjured and is not believed to have been under the influence at the time of the incident. The identity of the bicyclist has not been officially released.
The CHP is continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash.
