A woman sustained major injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Oildale, Kern County, on Saturday night, April 4, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the scene around 8:22 p.m. near North Chester and Harding avenues.
Investigators found that the woman was walking east across Chester Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a 2008 Hyundai traveling in the number one lane of southbound Chester Avenue.
The vehicle, driven by a man traveling at about 35 mph, was unable to stop in time and collided with the woman. The driver remained at the scene.
The woman was transported to Kern Medical with major injuries. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
