Two people were killed, and two others were injured in a head-on crash involving two pickup trucks just east of Julian on Banner Grade in San Diego County, on Saturday afternoon, April 4, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at 2:50 p.m. at State Route 78 and Mastros Trailer Park Road. A witness told CHP that a lifted pickup truck collided head-on with another pickup.
Cal Fire confirmed that two people died in the crash and two others were airlifted to a trauma center for treatment of their injuries.
It remains unclear what caused the two vehicles to collide, and it was not immediately known how fast they were traveling. The investigation is ongoing.
