According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:50 a.m. when the 81-year-old woman from Springfield, Oregon, driving the 2012 Kia, lost control while traveling south on Interstate 5. The vehicle was traveling in the rain when it over-corrected after turning left near the Statton Road turnoff, about 15 miles north of Shasta Lake.

The Kia spun out of control, struck a concrete K-rail divider, and ricocheted back across southbound lanes before crashing into a rock embankment, where it flipped over.

Both women were transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center, where the driver was diagnosed with a fractured lumbar vertebra. Peggy died from blunt force trauma to her torso and head later that day.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
