[03-25-2026] Alameda County, CA – Pedestrian in Critical Condition After Hit-and-Run Crash Near Uptown Oakland.webpA 59-year-old pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a car near the Uptown district in Oakland on Wednesday evening, March 25, 2026.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 5:58 p.m. in the 400 block of 23rd Street.

The Concord resident was crossing the street when he was struck by a silver Hyundai Elantra traveling westbound.

The driver failed to stop and fled the scene, last seen heading northbound on Valley Street. Police have not released a detailed description of the driver.

The pedestrian suffered major injuries, including a fractured skull, a broken leg, and other trauma, and was transported to the hospital.
