[03-16-2026] Alameda County, CA – Pedestrian Injured After Being Struck by Car in West Berkeley Crosswalk (2).webpA man in his 50s was injured when a vehicle struck him while he was walking in a crosswalk in West Berkeley on Monday night, March 16, 2026.

According to the Berkeley Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:05 p.m. at the intersection of 10th Street and University Avenue. 

Emergency responders with the Berkeley Fire Department found the man lying in the street upon arrival. 

Witnesses reported that the man, who was walking in the crosswalk, was hit by a vehicle traveling at about 35 mph. The force of the impact caused him to strike the windshield and be thrown approximately 10 feet into the air.

BFD transported the victim to Highland Hospital, the regional trauma center, at about 10:20 p.m. The driver remained at the scene, and there were no immediate signs of impairment.

The investigation is ongoing.
