[03-17-2026] San Diego County, CA – Two Drivers Injured in DUI Crash on Carlsbad Blvd.webpTwo drivers were injured in a DUI crash in Carlsbad on Tuesday night, March 17, 2026.

According to the Carlsbad Police Department, officers responded to the 4400 block of Carlsbad Boulevard at around 11:08 p.m. for a reported traffic collision. 

Upon arrival, officers learned that one of the drivers had a firearm, which was discharged during an apparent attempt to handle it. Fortunately, no injuries resulted from the gunfire.

Both drivers were taken to a local hospital for injuries related to the crash. One driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, and carrying a loaded firearm in public. The arrested driver remains under police supervision while receiving medical treatment.

The investigation remains ongoing.
