An electric scooter rider suffered a 4-inch cut to his head in a hit-and-run collision in San Mateo on Sunday afternoon, March 15, 2026.
According to the San Mateo Police Department, the crash occurred at around 12:50 p.m. at the intersection of Monte Diablo Avenue and North San Mateo Drive.
The victim, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, sustained the injury after being struck by a vehicle.
Using neighborhood security camera footage and automated license-plate reader technology, officers identified the suspect as a 60-year-old man from Foster City.
Police tracked the suspect to San Francisco International Airport, where he works, and arrested him with the assistance of the San Francisco Police Department.
The suspect was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run resulting in injury.
The investigation is ongoing.
