[03-13-2026] San Diego County, CA – Driver Killed in Head-On Crash on Otay Lakes Rd. Near Upper Otay Reservoir

A driver was fatally injured in a head-on collision on Otay Lakes Road near Upper Otay Reservoir in San Diego County on Friday morning, March 13, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. when the driver of an Acura sedan, traveling westbound, was struck on the driver’s side by an oncoming Honda sedan. The Honda had veered over a set of solid yellow lines east of Wueste Road.

Paramedics transported the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released. The driver of the Honda sedan sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, though CHP officials stated that intoxication does not appear to have been a factor.
