A man was killed after being struck by an SUV in rural Stanislaus County early Monday morning, March 16, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to a report of an incident just after 4:30 a.m. on Washington Road near Ehrlich Road, southwest of Turlock.
The pedestrian died at the scene. Authorities have not released his name pending notification of next of kin, but officials confirmed he was a 52-year-old Turlock resident.
Investigators believe the man was walking in the roadway at the time of the incident.
The driver of the SUV, a resident of Hilmar, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. CHP stated that drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
