According to the San Francisco Police Department, emergency crews responded to the incident at around 10:42 p.m. near the intersection of Broadway and Kearny Street.

Authorities found a car resting on the sidewalk, up against a building, with an electric scooter lying nearby. 

Police confirmed that the male pedestrian suffered critical injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The man riding the scooter was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after falling off due to the collision.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Authorities said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in the fatal crash.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
