[03-03-2026] Alameda County, CA – Man Killed After Being Struck By Car in East Oakland.webpA man died after being struck by a car while crouching in the roadway in East Oakland on Tuesday night, March 3, 2026.

According to Oakland police, the incident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. in the 7100 block of San Leandro Street. 

Authorities said the man had been standing in the roadway, and several vehicles were able to avoid him.

Police reported that the man later crouched down in a westbound lane when he was struck by a Toyota Corolla driven by a 17-year-old Oakland boy. The man was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities believe the victim was a 46-year-old man who was unhoused, though his identity has not yet been released pending official confirmation. The teen driver remained at the scene and provided a statement to investigators.

The case remains under investigation.
