A 34-year-old man riding an electric bicycle was injured in a collision with a car in San Diego’s Southcrest neighborhood on Friday morning, February 27, 2026.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred at around 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Newton Avenue and S. 37th Street.
Police said a southbound 2022 Dodge Challenger driven by a 54-year-old man struck the E-bike rider after he entered the intersection without stopping at a stop sign.
The rider was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where he was treated for fractures to his vertebrae, jaw, multiple ribs, and left wrist.
Authorities stated that driving under the influence was not considered a factor for either party. The investigation remains ongoing.
