A jogger died from injuries she suffered after being struck by a vehicle in Palo Alto early Friday morning, January 30, 2026.
According to the Palo Alto Police Department, the incident occurred just before 7:25 a.m. at the intersection of Oregon Avenue and St. Francis Drive.
Investigators said the woman, described as being in her 50s, was jogging westbound in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle making a left turn onto St. Francis Drive from eastbound Oregon Avenue.
The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment and later died from her injuries on Sunday. Her identity has not been released.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office is expected to identify the victim after confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Police stated that the driver involved stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities indicated that alcohol or drugs were not believed to be factors in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
