[01-31-2026] Ventura County, CA – One Killed, Another Injured After Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 101 Near Ventura Rd.webpA 39-year-old man was killed following a wrong-way crash on Highway 101 north of Ventura Road in Ventura County on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2012 Volkswagen in the wrong direction when he collided with two other vehicles. 

The crash involved a 2023 Ford driven by a 62-year-old woman from Santa Maria and a 2025 Mercedes driven by a 37-year-old woman from El Monte.

Authorities stated that the 39-year-old man suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead. The 62-year-old woman sustained minor injuries, while the 37-year-old woman was not injured.

CHP indicated that it was not immediately known why the man was driving the wrong way or whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
