A multi-vehicle crash forced the closure of all lanes on southbound Highway 17 in the Santa Cruz Mountains on Friday, January 30, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at Granite Creek Road and involved four vehicles.
CHP stated that minor injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
Authorities issued a SIG Alert for the area, indicating the roadway would remain closed for an extended period. Drivers were advised to avoid the area and use Soquel San Jose Road, Highway 152, and Highway 129 as alternate routes.
Officials said there was no estimated time for when Highway 17 would fully reopen.
The incident remains under investigation.
