[01-22-2026] Butte County, CA – DUI Arrest Following Crash on Highway 70 South of Oroville.webpA crash on Highway 70 south of Oroville led to a manhunt and a DUI arrest on Thursday night, January 22, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. when a Chevy pickup made a U-turn to head southbound on Highway 70 at Palermo Road and collided with a Nissan. 

The pickup ended up in a field, and both the driver and passenger fled the scene. Law enforcement deployed a drone to locate the two individuals.

The CHP reported that the driver of the pickup was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run. 

The Nissan came to rest on the shoulder of the highway, and the driver of the Nissan sustained a broken leg and cuts to the head.

The investigation is ongoing.
