One person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision involving an unoccupied building in San Mateo on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026.
According to the San Mateo Police Department, the crash occurred around 3:10 p.m. when two vehicles collided, and one of them crashed into the now-closed Jennifer Convertibles store.
Police said each vehicle had one occupant. One person was transported to a hospital for an unknown reason, and authorities could not immediately confirm whether the hospitalization was due to injuries from the crash or a separate medical issue.
Police stated that one vehicle struck the unoccupied building as a result of the initial impact. The department did not confirm whether weather conditions contributed to the collision.
