[12-31-2025] Two Killed, Three Injured After Crash With Big Rig at Avenue 13 and Road 23Two people were killed, and three others were injured following a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a big rig at Avenue 13 and Road 23 in Madera County on Wednesday morning, December 31, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred before 11:00 a.m. when a Honda CR-V traveling westbound on Avenue 13 either ran a stop sign or failed to yield and collided with the side of a big rig. CHP said the Honda veered off to the shoulder after impact. 

Four of the five occupants inside the Honda were reportedly ejected from the vehicle. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and three others were transported to area hospitals with injuries.

Authorities said the driver of the big rig was not injured. Investigators stated they are still determining whether weather conditions played a role in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
