A driver was killed and four other people were injured following a car crash in Fresno early Sunday morning, December 14, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and American Avenue.
Investigators said a Chevrolet sedan was traveling northbound on Cherry Avenue at a high rate of speed when it failed to stop and collided with a Nissan sedan traveling eastbound on American Avenue.
CHP reported the Nissan was being operated by a rideshare driver and had three occupants at the time of the crash. The impact caused the Nissan to spin and come to rest blocking the roadway, while the Chevrolet continued northbound, crashed through a chain-link fence, and stopped several hundred feet beyond the initial collision.
Emergency responders found the Chevrolet driver, identified as 20-year-old Jose R., unresponsive inside the vehicle. Authorities said Jose was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.
The four men traveling in the Nissan were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. CHP stated that alcohol was suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways.
