[10-28-2025] Man Killed in Head-On Collision with Chrysler on Highway 58 Near Bussell RoadA man was killed in a head-on collision with a Chrysler on Highway 58 east of Bussell Road in Kern County on Tuesday morning, October 28, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 5:45 a.m. The investigation revealed that a 40-year-old man from Delano was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound in the eastbound lane of Highway 58 at a high speed. At the same time, a 50-year-old woman from Arizona was driving a Chrysler in the eastbound lane of the highway.

The two vehicles collided head-on after the Jeep failed to move back into the westbound lane, according to CHP.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was transported to Kern Medical with major injuries.

CHP said that alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
