The California Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run collision involving commercial vehicles and road equipment on southbound Highway 139 near Hidden Valley in Modoc County on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
According to CHP, the incident occurred around 10:02 a.m. near mile marker 4.5. A tractor-trailer struck a Peterbilt grinder truck engaged in road stripping or painting operations and then fled the scene. No injuries were reported.
CHP units responded promptly to assess the situation. There were no reported traffic closures or significant delays for other motorists. Authorities are seeking information regarding the tractor-trailer involved in the hit-and-run.
Investigators continue to handle the case and will release additional information as it becomes available.
