A staff member for Los Angeles Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky was recovering from serious injuries after being struck by a Toyota pickup truck while walking her dog in the Miracle Mile neighborhood, Los Angeles, on Sunday morning, October 5, 2025.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision occurred around 8:30 a.m. near 8th Street and Cloverdale.
The truck may have run a stop sign before striking the victim and her dog. After briefly stopping, the occupants of the truck fled the scene. The woman was taken to a hospital with fractured bones, while the dog was pronounced dead at a veterinarian.
The female driver of the truck later surrendered to authorities and was booked for a felony hit-and-run charge. She was cited and released under Los Angeles County’s no-bail policy. Councilmember Yaroslavsky’s office called the incident “heartbreaking” and emphasized their support for the victim.
Authorities continue to investigate the collision.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
