[09-08-2025] Two Women Killed, One Injured in Head-On Crash on Highway 29 Near Hidden Valley LakeTwo women died and another sustained moderate injuries in a head-on collision on Highway 29 near Hidden Valley Lake in Lake County on Monday afternoon, September 8, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Clear Lake Area office, the crash occurred around 2:35 p.m., south of milepost marker 29.12. 

A 2010 Ford Edge traveling southbound, driven by 92-year-old Velma W. of Hidden Valley Lake, crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a 2011 Nissan Altima traveling northbound, driven by 58-year-old Margaret T. of Lower Lake. Sharon D., 83, was a passenger in Margaret’s vehicle.

Velma was transported from the scene but later succumbed to her injuries. Margaret sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital, while Sharon died at the scene. Authorities reported that all three women were believed to be wearing seatbelts and that drugs or alcohol were not suspected to be factors in the crash.

Resources from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Lake County Fire Protection District, Caltrans, the California Department of Fire, and Five Star Towing assisted CHP in managing the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
