According to officials and family members, the incident occurred near Sunset Boulevard and Sierra Bonita Avenue as Edwards was leaving a charity dance event. 

The driver of a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon reportedly fled the scene and has not yet been arrested. A $50,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.

The Los Angeles Police Department is actively investigating the case.
