[07-06-2025] Passenger Killed, Others Injured in Rollover Crash on Highway 65 Near Minneola Avenue in BakersfieldA passenger was killed and several others injured following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 65 near Minneola Avenue in Bakersfield on Sunday evening, July 6, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 7:23 p.m. when a 55-year-old man driving a 2013 Toyota Sienna southbound on Highway 65 attempted to pass a 2005 Ford F-350 towing a two-axle trailer.

CHP investigators said the Toyota moved into the northbound lane to pass the Ford but swerved back into the southbound lane upon seeing oncoming traffic, colliding with the left front of the Ford.

The impact caused the Toyota to overturn, ejecting a passenger who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and two other passengers in the Toyota were transported to Kern Medical Center with moderate to major injuries. The occupants of the Ford were uninjured.

Both directions of Highway 65 were closed for approximately four hours during the investigation.

CHP reported that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
