[06-29-2025] Pedestrian Killed in Crash on Calle Real in GoletaA woman was killed in a pedestrian crash in Goleta on early Sunday morning, June 29, 2025.

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred just before 1:00 a.m. on Calle Real.

A 68-year-old Goleta woman driving in the area reportedly looked away from the road due to the glare of bright oncoming headlights and veered off the roadway, eventually coming to rest in a nearby field.

Deputies arriving at the scene found a female pedestrian lying off the road approximately 300 feet from where the vehicle had stopped. Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations suggest the driver was unaware she had struck the pedestrian until informed by deputies at the scene. Authorities stated that drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the crash.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.
