A male pedestrian was fatally struck by a pickup truck while walking on southbound Highway 101 in Healdsburg on Thursday afternoon, May 22, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 2:33 p.m. just south of Westside Road.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the man had been walking on the right shoulder of the highway when he suddenly turned and stepped into the lane of traffic.
A Ford F-150 traveling in the southbound lane struck the pedestrian. The man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck immediately stopped and cooperated with authorities.
The collision blocked the number two lane, causing a traffic backup. Both lanes were reopened by 4:40 p.m.
CHP stated the cause of the incident remains under investigation.
