One pedestrian was killed and another was injured after a hit-and-run incident on Chester Bridge in Bakersfield on Wednesday morning, April 23, 2025.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident occurred in the 4200 block of Chester Avenue.
Two men were walking southbound on the south side of the bridge when one was struck from behind by a vehicle and fatally injured. The second man was hit by debris from the collision.
Authorities reported that the second pedestrian declined medical treatment at the scene. The suspect vehicle, described as a possible older white pickup truck, continued southbound without stopping.
