[04-17-2025] Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Fourth Avenue in Chula VistaA male pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Chula Vista on Thursday night, April 17, 2025.

According to the Chula Vista Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 9:00 p.m. near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Naples Street.

A silver 2013 Toyota Rav4, driven by a 72-year-old Chula Vista resident, was traveling southbound on Fourth Avenue when it struck the pedestrian in the right lane, just south of Naples Street.

Emergency responders administered life-saving measures at the scene before transporting the man to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Rav4 remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. No injuries to the driver were reported, and alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors.

The Chula Vista Police Department’s Traffic Bureau is investigating the cause of the collision.
