A pedestrian was struck and killed after reportedly walking into a traffic lane on southbound Business 80 over the American River in Sacramento early Saturday morning, April 12, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 5:20 a.m., a man in his 30s was walking in the No. 3 lane when an Audi A6 traveling in the same lane swerved right in an attempt to avoid hitting him. The vehicle’s left side mirror reportedly made contact with the pedestrian.
Moments later, a Mazda CX-30 SUV traveling directly behind the Audi also struck the man. He suffered fatal injuries and came to rest between the No. 2 and 3 lanes, according to officers.
The roadway was closed for approximately one hour following the crash. The CHP is investigating the incident.
